Health-tech · EHR softwareThe Comparison Page Sales Was Building by Hand, Now Ranking Instead
A mid-market EHR platform had zero presence in the comparison searches its own sales team lost deals to. Fourteen buying-committee-mapped comparison pages later, it's the page prospects read before they book a demo.

The challenge
The product was ranking for awareness-stage blog terms, but almost nothing for the searches that happen in the last two weeks before a buying decision — "[competitor] vs [competitor]" and "alternative to [competitor]." Three category leaders owned that entire layer of search.
Every deal that reached a shortlist stage still needed a manually built comparison deck from the AE, because there was nowhere on the site a prospect could go to see the comparison for themselves.
92% of trial signups were coming from paid spend or outbound, with organic contributing almost nothing at the exact moment prospects were choosing between vendors.
Diagnostic Transformation
The Structural Shift: Before vs. After
Inspect the baseline operational bottlenecks against the deployed compounding search infrastructure.
No comparison or alternative pages existed for the three competitors prospects actually shortlisted
No comparison or alternative content existed anywhere on the site. Every objection a prospect raised on a call was one AEs had already answered a hundred times with a hand-built deck.
Critical Bottlenecks Identified:
- ✕No comparison or alternative pages existed for the three competitors prospects actually shortlisted
- ✕Demo request page buried four clicks from any ranking blog post
- ✕Sales team building one-off comparison decks by hand for every call
14 comparison and alternative pages built around real buying-committee objections
Fourteen comparison pages, built around real objections sourced from closed-lost calls, now do the job the AE deck used to do — before the call even happens.
Engineered Infrastructure Wins:
- ✓14 comparison and alternative pages built around real buying-committee objections
- ✓Bottom-funnel CRO lifted trial signup rate 3.4x on the same traffic
- ✓Sales given a self-serve comparison library, cutting one-off deck requests by half
Approach
Map the buying committee, not the keyword volume
Search volume on 'EHR software' told us nothing about who actually signs. We mapped the terms an economic buyer, a clinical champion and an end-user each search separately, and built for the intersection, not the average.
Build comparison pages sales could stand behind
Every comparison page was drafted from a real closed-lost call transcript and reviewed by the AE who lost that specific deal before it went live, so the content matched what sales already knew was true.
Fix the four-click path to a demo
Ranking a comparison page is wasted if the next step is buried. The demo request path was rebuilt to two clicks from any page on the site, with the CTA copy matched to where the visitor actually was.
What was executed
- Interviewed 6 closed-lost sales calls to source the real objections comparison pages needed to answer
- Built 14 comparison and alternative pages with a consistent, sales-approved structure
- Rebuilt the demo request path to two clicks from any ranking page
- Set up GA4 pipeline attribution tied to Salesforce opportunity stage
- Trained the SDR team to send comparison pages instead of custom decks
“Comparison pages used to be something sales built by hand for every call. Now it's the page prospects have already read before they book the demo.”
